Mac Tool for Splitting NEF/RAW Images

I'm in need of a Mac-compatible tool developed in Python, which can split NEF or RAW image files into multiple high-quality images. This tool should be capable of detecting the edges of items in the photo and cropping and saving separate image files. The primary use case will be for imaging multiple graded trading cards in one image.
