Backpacker Trail is a travel StartUp from Heidelberg, Germany. Our vision is to revolutionize the travel industry and inspire people to discover the world.

We are one of the top travel StartUps 2021, and we've developed an webapp designed for the post-pandemic period that uses AI to create a travel route tailored to our user's interests. Spring is approaching and the desire to travel is on the rise again - this makes it the right time for our launch in March 2022.

During product development, we could win some of the biggest travel platforms as partners for our product (Skyscanner, Booking.com, Trivago, Hostelworld, Viator, GetYourGuide and many more). Further, we took our website from 0 to 40,000 monthly visitors. Through our social media networks, we achieved a reach of almost 30 million over the past year.

Now we are looking for an experienced Back End Developer to be part of our exciting journey!

Tasks:
-Develop highly scalable and "State Of The Art" software components for our B2C solutions with a focus on the backend.
-Leading technical role in building our new software architecture
-Technical sparring partner for the developers
-Optimization of software development processes
-Software programming with other developers in a highly skilled team
-Taking over the planning and execution of code reviews
-Support in the optimization of product development methods (agile methods such as Scrum/Kanban)

Requirements:
-University degree in computer science, an equivalent degree, or extensive practical experience
-Excellent knowledge of developing scalable web applications and building the structure of "microservice oriented software architectures".
-Excellent knowledge and many years of experience in the field of software programming and in the technical environment of web applications
-Profound knowledge and a very good overview of currently used and potential "cutting edge" technologies
-Very good practical experience with Python as a programming language
-Good knowledge of programming with Golang is a big plus
-3-5 years of experience in developing backend applications and API connections
-Sound know-how regarding SQL and NoSQL like MongoDB or equivalent technologies
-Very good knowledge of ElasticSearch or comparable open source components
-Good experience in web service standards (XML, XSLT, REST API etc.)
-Very good experience with the use of build, development and test tools (e.g. Jenkins Bitbucket, GitHub, Bamboo)
-Expert knowledge in continuous delivery and integration (pipelines) and software containerization platforms ( e.g. Docker).
-Good experience with agile approaches (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban).
-Familiar with SaaS, IaaS and cloud solutions
-Analytical and structured approach
-High degree of personal responsibility and independent working style
-Excellent communication skills and very good command of English
-Team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and insights with others
-Strong customer orientation (internal and external customers) and strong service mentality
