Full Time Senior Python Developer
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
This is for a full-time position. With the current scope, the effort is estimated to be between 2 and 4 months. We are expecting a starting date around August 1st, 2022.

Position Summary:
You will write code and scripts (mostly in python) to implement the analytical pipelines for both operations and R&D. The code will be written either from detailed specifications, or from existing code that needs refactoring – or a combination of both. Typical examples of development work include – but aren’t limited to:
Pipeline and workflow automation
Queuing and messaging systems
Data management and database queries
Data analysis and automated reports generation
Generation of graphs, charts, and other data visualization components
Queries and controls over other systems via REST APIs
Test and relevant mock components (unit, integration, and acceptance tests)
Continuous Integration automation (docker, GitHub actions)
Note that this position does not require any background in statistics, data analysis or bioinformatics. However, some familiarity with some relevant python libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas or Matplotlib is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to backlog refinement
Implement backlog items to specified requirements
Implement appropriate levels of tests
Automate continuous integration and testing
Coordinate with other team members on design and implementation decisions
Propose architecture and design improvements
Document solutions as needed (design, implementation, usage, restrictions, etc.)
Requirements:
Experience as a software engineer (3 - 5 years)
Excellent programming skills, particularly in python
Commitment to best practices of modern software engineering
Knowledge of commonly used python libraries
Familiarity with docker
Familiarity with REST APIs
Beneficial:
Experience with a web development framework, particularly FastAPI
Experience working with scientific data, particularly chemical and biological data
Experience developing systems including a LIMS (e.g. Platform For Science)
Experience deploying solutions on cloud platforms (AWS)
Experience with numeric and data analysis libraries
Basic knowledge of frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React)
Basic knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL)
