Fix MQTT Python Script for Raspberry Pi

I need a Python specialist with significant experience in Raspberry Pi and MQTT protocols. My specific project involves a script interfacing with a JSN-SR04T sensor which is meant to publish plain text data to a MQTT broker. The script, however, is not functioning correctly due to recent updates both to the Raspberry Pi (upgraded to a Raspberry Pi 3) and the Paho MQTT library which has experienced major, breaking changes.
Key tasks involve:
- Analyzing and identifying the issues with the existing script.
- Fixing the bugs and ensuring the script can correctly publish data to the MQTT broker.
- Conducting thorough testing to ensure system stability post-fix.
Ideal skills and experience:
- Experienced Python developer.
- Familiarity with Raspberry Pi 3 and GPIO
- Extensive knowledge and experience with MQTT protocol and Paho MQTT library.
- Experience with sensor data handling is a plus.
