Experienced Programmer Needed for Automated PDF Editing and Text Manipulation - 27 Nov 2023
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
This project is focused on editing PDF files using various tools and software, including but not limited to desktop automation wrappers around well-known PDF editors such as PDF Expert and Adobe Acrobat. Candidates are not limited to Python-based solutions and can use any method or programming language they are proficient with, as long as it allows for precise manipulation of text and formatting in PDF documents.
The tasks for this project include:
Text Replacement in Sample PDFs: Edit two sample PDFs (TestDoc1A.pdf, TestDoc1B.pdf) by replacing specific text strings. The edited PDFs must maintain the original layout, fonts, styles, images, and other elements of the documents.
Incrementing Numeric Values in Sample PDFs: Modify two additional sample PDFs (TestDoc2A.pdf, TestDoc2B.pdf) by increasing a numeric value in the text, based on the difference observed between these two files. The final documents should preserve the original layout, fonts, styles, images, etc.
Compatibility and Error-Checking: Ensure that the generated PDFs are error-free and compatible with Mac OS.
Code Quality and Documentation: If coding is involved in the solution, the code should be clear, well-commented, and adhere to good naming conventions. Manage any dependencies and setup required for the project smoothly.
I will provide four sample PDFs for editing. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to edit these PDFs as per the outlined tasks while retaining all other aspects of the original documents.
The evaluation of the work will be based on the functionality and accuracy of the edited PDFs on my system, as well as the quality of any code or documentation provided, if applicable.
