Develop Conversational AI-Powered Restaurant/Hotel Ordering Assistant (TableTot)

I'm seeking a skilled developer to help optimise Tabletot, an innovative AI-powered, voice-activated ordering assistant for hotels and restaurants. This compact device will be housed in a 3D-printed pyramid-shaped casing with internal lighting and a small touchscreen interface, running on Raspberry Pi. It will be placed on dining tables, allowing customers to place food orders using voice commands. You will be working with a full fledged MVP which has been already built by the founder.
Key Requirements:
- Optimize and extend the existing Python codebase running on Raspberry Pi
- Configure and troubleshoot USB audio devices using ALSA and PulseAudio
Implement a touchscreen interface that:
- Displays food item images when mentioned or ordered
- Integrate a Kitchen Display System (KDS) to push confirmed orders
- Enable wake-word detection (e.g., “Hey Tabletot”) and reduce response latency
- Improve error-handling and session memory for more fluid interactions
- Collaborate with the founder for hardware considerations and real-time testing
- Integrate LED indicators to show system status: idle, active, order placed.
- Maintain clean, readable, and documented code with Git version control
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Python (core language for logic and integrations)
- Experience in developing voice-activated systems and AI integration.
- Proficiency in Raspberry Pi programming and hardware integration.
- Familiarity with POS system integrations.
- Familiarity with transitioning from Raspberry Pi to custom PCB/embedded boards for cost-effective, scalable hardware solutions.
