Cybersecurity Junior Developer for SOC Project

Project: Open-Source Cyber Defense Platform (SOC – Security Operations Center)
Location: Remote
Type: Freelance (long-term mission)
Salary: Negotiable
Mission Overview
You will work closely with the lead developer and project manager on a national-level cybersecurity initiative designed to protect small businesses, municipalities, and NGOs in France.
The project involves building a modular Security Operations Center (SOC) with over 30 layers of defense, including:
SIEM (Wazuh), IDS/IPS (Suricata), SOAR (TheHive, Cortex)
License management, monitoring agents, dashboards, backups
Automated Docker-based deployment on Linux
Frontend in React and backend in Flask/FastAPI
Security integrations such as TPM, encryption, MFA, and alerting systems
Responsibilities
Clone and deploy the existing codebase
Develop features alongside the project lead (pair programming)
Debug and improve backend (Python) and frontend (React) components
Connect endpoint agents to the backend using REST APIs
Configure and test Docker containers (Wazuh, Elasticsearch, etc.)
Participate in code reviews and apply security best practices
Write clean, maintainable, and secure code

Requirements
At least 1 year of experience with Python and frontend basics
Ability to deploy and debug Dockerized apps
Interest in cybersecurity and secure coding
Good communication skills in English
Autonomous, reliable, and collaborative
Work Method
You will work directly with the project leader. This is a collaborative mission, not a solo task. All development is guided and co-coded with the architect. Expect hands-on mentoring, clear tasks, and structured collaboration.
