Consolidate and modify existing 2 python scripts

I had 2 python scripts developed. The first downloads files from a website (www.sec.gov) and the other scrapes the files and exports it to .csv. This worked well for the initial phase of the project where i was filling a database for old data. Now i need to use these two scripts to check for newest file or files, download, scrape and then export the data directly to a mySQL database (checking for duplicates). Open to suggestions on whether to combine the two scripts or to leave them separate.
