Connection to API, get data live and write It in a CSV file

The job consist in the connection to an API (google protocol buffers in python (alternatively there Is also a c++ API)) in order to get some data that I will specify in private and write them in a CSV file. The program has to constantly get data and write them (live). Before the real connection can be established the API owners require the connection to a test server. The full job should be done within a week (not considering every delay due to me or the API owners), from my part you'll have the full cooperation.
