Caching Impact on Application Startup Time
Budget: $10 – $30 CAD
I am looking for an experienced developer to create a program that demonstrates the impact of caching on application startup times. The project should involve running a simple application (e.g., a file reader, text editor, or similar) multiple times, where a caching mechanism is implemented to reduce the startup time for subsequent runs.
Key Requirements:
1. Baseline Performance Measurement
- Measure the startup time of the application without any caching)
2. Caching Implementation
- Integrate a caching mechanism to store frequently accessed data.
- Ensure the application runs faster on subsequent executions by utilizing the cache.
3. Performance Comparison
- Collect data comparing the startup times with and without caching over multiple runs.
- Present the results using graphs or charts to highlight the performance improvements.
4. Technology Stack
- Preferred languages: Python, C or C++
- Tools for timing: `time`, `perf`, others
- Visualization: Matplotlib or similar libraries
5. Documentation
- Provide a brief report explaining the methodology, implementation, results, and conclusions.
Deliverables:
- Source code for the application and caching implementation.
- Performance data and visualizations (e.g., startup times plotted over multiple runs).
- A final report detailing the project.
Additional Information:
- The project is for an academic purpose and must involve a quantitative evaluation of the caching mechanism.
- The solution should be easy to understand and replicate.
Looking forward to working with someone who can complete this Graduate project on time!
