CMM Path Planning Expert Needed

Job ID: 39080879

Budget: $750 – $1,500 CAD

I'm looking for a skilled mechanical, mechatronics, or robotics engineer with experience in machine path planning and CAD feature extraction. The goal is to develop a solution that enables a machine to move from one X, Y coordinate to another while determining the shortest, collision-free path. The first step involves extracting geometric features like surfaces and curves to find planes, circles, cylinders, cones, angles, points, and lines—from a CAD file. For measurements, we need specific points for each feature: one for planes, two for lines, three for circles, six for cones and cylinders, and six for angles between planes.

The project will require implementing and comparing several path-planning algorithms, including BFS, DFS, Dijkstra’s algorithm, A*, and Dijkstra with heuristic optimizations, to ensure efficient and reliable movement. A good understanding of geometric modeling, collision avoidance, and robotics algorithms is essential. References like the Coursera Robotic Path Planning course (https://www.coursera.org/learn/robotic-path-planning-task-execution/)and the MDPI research paper (https://www.mdpi.com/2075-1702/10/11/973) will provide guidance for this task. Also the cad file of workpiece is attached but we'll only work on one feature each.

If you have the technical expertise and are confident in delivering a solution that meets these requirements, I’d love to hear from you!
