Automated Edge Driver Updater
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Need to develop a script or program that automates the process of updating the Microsoft Edge WebDriver. The program will perform the following tasks automatically on a daily basis (time and date can be controlled):
It should be delivered as an executable(.exe) file that can be installed on multiple computers.
There should be an on/off option:
1. Check Current Microsoft Edge Version:
• The program will first determine the current version of Microsoft Edge installed on the user's system.
2. Download Correct Version of Microsoft Edge WebDriver to match with Microsoft Edge version:
3. Extract WebDriver and Rename:
• Once the WebDriver is downloaded, the program will extract the msedgedriver file from the downloaded ZIP archive.
• It will then rename the extracted msedgedriver file to edgedriver.
4. Update Local Directory:
• The program will save the renamed edgedriver file to a specified location on the user's local computer: "C:\Users\[my computer]\AppData\Local\SeleniumBasic\".
• If an existing edgedriver file already exists in the specified location, the program will rename it as “*****-expired” and add the newly downloaded renamed file to that location
Additional Requirements:
• Notify by email when things or successful or fail (address to be specified by us as we use it)
• The program should be compatible with Windows operating systems.
• It should be designed to run seamlessly in the background with minimal user interaction.
• Error handling mechanisms should be implemented to address any potential issues during the update process.
• The code should be well-documented and include comments for ease of understanding and future maintenance.
