Abstract:
The present paper explores the possibility of modifying a three wheeler into a four wheeled passenger car to meet the low budget transport in India. The study of Indian market shows constant growth of Maruti Suzuki Alto sales over the past few decades. But as the Alto is still not in reachable price to most people, it leads to the search of other options. The Bajaj RE Diesel is found to cheaper and having more mileage than the regular passenger cars. This paper presents the process of development of CAD model, modification of chassis, installation of front wheels, steering system, brake system and fabrication of the body. Though the changes made increased the weight of the vehicle, decreased the mileage still it is found to be affordable compared to the Maruti Suzuki Alto. In order to find out the growth rate of Indian passenger vehicle market, Various analysis were conducted such as exploratory data analysis (EDA), sales trend plots, correlation analysis, regression analysis, time series analysis, moving average analysis, and year-over-year growth rate analysis. However, additional improvements in reducing vehicle noise, vibration, and safety aspects are required to achieve better performances. The analysis reveal that this approach can effectively address the increasing demand for low budget passenger cars in India.
