In accordance with these instruments, I respectfully urge the African Union to:
Formally encourage publication of a clear, time-bound electoral roadmap, consistent with ACDEG obligations.
Enhance monitoring and reporting mechanisms on electoral preparedness and security reform benchmarks.
Facilitate inclusive national dialogue mechanisms to rebuild citizen trust in constitutional processes.
Undertake preventive diplomatic engagement under the Peace and Security Council framework to safeguard democratic credibility.
This petition does not seek external imposition of political outcomes. It calls for principled consistency.
The African Union has rightly condemned unconstitutional seizures of power. Equal vigilance must apply where democratic processes risk erosion through indefinite delay.
Stability and democracy are not adversaries. Sustainable stability depends on credible, time-bound constitutional processes.
South Sudan’s citizens deserve clarity, measurable progress, and assurance that transition leads to elections — not permanent extension.
The credibility of continental governance norms depends on consistent application.
