Psychologist-Led Discourse Analysis

This project involves a psychologist-led analysis of observable interactional dynamics within an audio recording of an institutional proceeding, conducted for the sole purpose of describing and contextualizing measurable patterns of discourse behavior using established principles from social and interactional psychology. The analysis is strictly limited to externally observable features of interaction, including turn-taking structure, interruption frequency and type, overlap, response latency, floor control, and differential address patterns across participant roles, as operationally defined in advance and grounded in peer-reviewed psychological and conversation-analytic literature. The psychologist’s role is interpretive and contextual, relying exclusively on quantified acoustic and interactional data derived from a separate, fully documented forensic speech analysis; no independent psychological testing, clinical interview, or diagnostic procedure is performed. This project does not assess mental health, emotional state, personality traits, credibility, intent, motivation, bias, or any internal psychological condition of any individual, nor does it offer legal conclusions or normative judgments. All interpretations are explicitly framed as descriptive associations between observed interactional patterns and well-established constructs in the literature on institutional discourse and social power dynamics, without attribution of causation or intent. Methodology, assumptions, and limitations are transparently documented, alternative explanations are considered, and conclusions are restricted to statements that are testable, falsifiable, replicable, and subject to known limitations, consistent with the standards for reliability and admissibility articulated under Daubert.
