Piezo Igniter for Oxy Acetylene

Job ID: 39877475

Budget: $250 – $750 AUD

I need a reliable piezo-electric system that will consistently ignite oxy-acetylene for welding, cutting, and heating tasks.

(Note the tool and concept actually exists already but none of them work. they don't produce a spark big enough to ignite LPG or acetylene. if all goes well my company has more ideas that we would like to get prototypes of.)

Scope
• Design a compact hand-held or in-torch igniter that produces a stable, high-voltage spark suitable for an oxy-acetylene mix.
• Specify the exact piezo element, housing materials, wiring, and electrode arrangement so the unit withstands workshop abuse and heat exposure.
• Supply a detailed schematic, parts list, and assembly guide. A functional prototype or clear prototype photos/video will let me confirm performance.

Key points
• The spark must ignite gas rapidly without external batteries.
• Durability is more important than miniaturisation; workshop use can be rough.
• No strict deadline—quality and reliability come first.

When you respond, focus on your relevant experience with piezo ignition, high-voltage generation, or similar gas-torch projects. If you have examples of previous igniter designs or rugged workshop electronics, those will help me evaluate fit.
