Turn Kitchen Colour Guide Draft into Beautiful Digital Ebook (PDF) — Ready to Sell
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I have a complete written draft of a kitchen colour and cabinetry guide called Swatch & Stone: Kitchen Colour Confidence Guide. The content is finished — approximately 8,000–10,000 words across 7 sections. I need a designer to turn this draft into a polished, professional digital ebook (PDF) that's ready to sell online.
This is a consumer-facing product, not an internal document. It needs to look like something people are happy to pay $40+ for. Think premium, calm, editorial — not busy, not corporate, not Pinterest-overload.
What's Included in the Draft
The guide covers everything a homeowner needs to know before choosing their kitchen colours, written from the perspective of a cabinet maker's wife with 7+ years of industry experience. Sections include:
Introduction and how to use the guide
Understanding your kitchen space (light direction, existing elements)
Cabinet colour guidance (popular choices, what lasts, what's risky)
Benchtop and cabinet pairings (including post–engineered stone ban options)
Splashback options (materials, colour strategy, gas cooktop compliance)
Hardware and handles (styles, finishes, coordination)
Decision checklists and planning worksheets
Whole-home joinery planning
Questions to ask your cabinet maker
What I Need You to Do
Design and layout:
Design a professional ebook layout in A4 portrait format
Create a branded cover page and section openers
Style the interior pages with consistent typography, spacing, and colour
Format tables, comparison charts, and checklists so they're clean and easy to read
Design "Insider Tip" callout boxes (a signature element throughout the guide — there are roughly 15–20 of these)
Design "Building Code" warning boxes (used for compliance information)
Ensure the document is visually balanced with good use of white space
Final output as a high-quality PDF, optimised for screen viewing and home printing
Proofreading and content review:
Read through the entire guide and flag anything that doesn't make sense, reads awkwardly, or feels out of place
Fix any spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors
Ensure consistency (terminology, formatting, capitalisation)
Flag any sections that feel too long, repetitive, or unclear
What I'm NOT asking for:
You don't need to write content — it's all done
You don't need to source photography (text and layout only for now, I may add images later)
You don't need to create the content strategy or structure — that's locked in
Brand Guidelines
I'll provide:
Brand colour palette (hex codes)
Font preferences
Logo / brand name treatment
Examples of the "feel" I'm going for (calm, premium, warm — not busy or trendy)
The complete draft in Word format
Brand aesthetic in three words: Warm. Premium. Honest.
Think: Kinfolk magazine meets a really well-made renovation workbook. Clean typography, generous white space, soft earth tones. Not Pinterest-pretty — more quietly confident and editorial.
About the Brand
Swatch & Stone is a new brand helping homeowners make confident renovation decisions using insider knowledge from the cabinet making trade. This ebook is the flagship product — it's the first thing people see from us, so it needs to make a strong impression.
The target audience is primarily women aged 30–55 who are planning or mid-renovation. They're on Instagram and Pinterest, they care about aesthetics, and they can spot the difference between something that looks professional and something that looks DIY.
What I'm Looking For in a Freelancer
Strong portfolio of ebook or editorial layout design (show me examples)
Eye for typography and white space — I'd rather fewer design elements done beautifully than lots of elements done averagely
Comfortable proofreading and giving honest feedback on content flow
Responsive communication — I need to be able to give feedback and get revisions quickly
Experience designing guides, workbooks, or planners is a bonus
Deliverables
Designed ebook as editable file (InDesign, Canva, or Affinity Publisher — preference for something I can make small edits to later)
Final high-quality PDF (print-ready and screen-optimised versions)
Proofread content with any suggested changes noted
To Apply
Please include:
2–3 examples of ebook or guide design you've done (links or attachments)
Your turnaround time
Which software you work in
A sentence or two on what "warm, premium, honest" design means to you — I want to know you get the vibe
Looking forward to working with someone who can make this guide as beautiful as the advice inside it.
File needs to be EDITABLE.
