The Work

We need someone to lay out already-typed, already-proofread text in InDesign. That's it — no typing, no transcription, no proofreading the actual content. Our writing team has already extracted and cleaned every word from the source scans. You just need to take that clean text and place it into a styled InDesign template.

Think of it as: the words are 100% done — you're just making the page look right.

What You'll Actually Do
Place supplied, clean Word/text files into an InDesign template we provide
Apply simple formatting rules from a style guide (italics here, red text there, small caps in this spot)
Match column layout and page numbering to a reference PDF we'll give you
Flag anything unclear — no guesswork needed, we'll have a style brief ready
What You Do NOT Need to Do
No typing or re-typing text
No spelling/grammar correction (already handled)
No sourcing or scanning documents
No fixing artwork/illustrations (handled separately by the client's own artist)
What You'll Get to Start
A ready InDesign template + fonts
A short, clear style guide (what's italic, what's red, column rules, etc.)
A clean reference PDF to match the layout against
A small paid sample project first (~100 pages) so you can get comfortable before any bigger commitment
Requirements
InDesign experience (book/document layout — religious, academic, or reprint work is a plus but not required)
Comfortable following a written style guide exactly
Good attention to detail with column-based, styled text pages
