NY Wood Structure Engineering Needed
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m moving ahead with a wood-framed, unit multi-family building here in New York State and I need a structural engineer who knows the NYS Residential Code, the IBC, and all relevant local amendments inside out. The project is conceived entirely in wood—floor systems, shear walls, roof framing, and connection details—so you’ll be responsible for translating the architectural set into a fully code-compliant structural package ready for permit submission.
and will need to provide the fire rated walls details as per codes.
Scope of work
• Review the current architectural drawings and flag any issues that would drive structural changes early.
• Complete all load calculations (gravity, wind, seismic, snow) per NYS requirements and reference standards.
• Produce structural drawings (plans, sections, details) and concise structural notes in AutoCAD, delivered as editable files and PDFs.
• Respond to up to two rounds of plan-checker comments until approval.
Acceptance criteria
1. Calculations match the governing NYS code and show factors of safety explicitly.
2. Drawings are stamp-ready and formatted to the jurisdiction’s sheet size and title-block conventions.
3. All connection details specify readily available hardware and fastener schedules.
4. Final deliverable set is accepted by the building department without major structural revisions.
Timing is important to me; I’d like the first draft of drawings and calcs within three weeks of kickoff, then we’ll schedule reviews. Let me know the software you prefer, and a brief example (or redacted excerpt) of a similar wood multi-family job you’ve engineered.
