Toast POS Retail Setup Specialist

Job Overview

We are a busy neighborhood marketplace selling coffee, sandwiches, juices, snacks, and retail grocery items. We are looking for a detail-oriented specialist to organize and enter all of our retail products into our Toast POS system so that inventory tracking, pricing, and reporting are accurate.

This is a project-based contract role with potential for ongoing work maintaining inventory systems.

Project Goal

Build a clean, accurate retail inventory system inside Toast, including SKUs, pricing, vendor data, and inventory tracking.

Responsibilities

Enter and organize retail SKUs into Toast POS

Set up each item with:

Name and size

Category

Price

Cost

SKU/barcode (if applicable)

Tax settings

Configure inventory tracking including:

Case pack sizes

Units of measure

Vendor information

Starting quantities

Organize POS categories for easy cashier use

Identify and eliminate duplicate or inconsistent items

Standardize naming conventions across products

Test items to ensure proper ringing and inventory depletion

Provide a final spreadsheet of all items entered and structured

Qualifications

Required:

Experience with Toast POS OR another retail/restaurant POS system

Strong understanding of inventory systems, SKUs, and product cataloging

Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy

Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)

Preferred:

Experience setting up inventory tracking inside Toast

Experience with grocery, café, or retail food environments

Understanding of case packs and vendor ordering structures
