Operations Assistant for Environmental Education & Science Project

We are looking for a remote Operations Assistant to support the development of Pelucco, an international project that combines environmental education, science communication, storytelling and scientific research to raise awareness about plastic and microplastic pollution.

The project includes educational activities, digital content, a children’s book, and a scientific research initiative called Pelucco R&D Division, focused on environmental solutions and sustainable innovation.

The assistant will work directly with the founders of the project, supporting operational, research, administrative and coordination tasks.

Main responsibilities

Research and sourcing
- Search for suppliers and obtain three quotations for equipment and materials needed for the development of a small scientific laboratory (e.g., laboratory equipment, air conditioning units, safety equipment, etc.).
- Identify entrepreneurship and startup funding opportunities relevant to environmental or scientific initiatives.

Outreach and partnerships
- Research independent bookstores in the Monterrey metropolitan area and initiate first contact to explore potential interest in carrying the book Pelucco: El viaje del microplástico.
- Identify zero-waste stores and environmentally oriented businesses that may be interested in the project.

Content and communication
- Assist in the creation of a flyer describing the Pelucco book using Canva.
- Create the LinkedIn profile for the Pelucco project.
- Research and compare podcast microphones, providing three options that allow Mexican invoicing.

Legal and administrative coordination
- Manage communication with the project’s legal advisor.
- Send reminders and coordinate contract signatures with collaborators.
- Research procedures for registering book editions and copyright-related documentation with INDAUTOR (Mexico).

Documentation and project structure
Support the preparation and revision of internal documents for the project’s Social Media Manager, including:
- Detailed description of services and responsibilities
- List of reliable and authorized information sources
- Brand guidelines and editorial standards
- Content approval protocol
- Metrics and KPIs for evaluation

Resources provided
The assistant will have access to:
• the Pelucco book
• the Pelucco website
• direct guidance through meetings with the founders

Requirements
• Native Spanish speaker
• Ability to communicate in Italian
• Strong research and organizational skills
• Experience with online research and documentation
• Familiarity with tools such as Canva, email communication and basic digital platforms

Preference will be given to candidates who:
• live in Mexico or understand the Mexican institutional and business context
• have experience with environmental projects, science communication, education or publishing

Confidentiality

Because this project involves unpublished materials, internal documents and research-related information, the selected candidate will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to the start of the collaboration.
