PM-Lite Hardware & Software Project Manager - READ CAREFULLY

Job ID: 39820943

Budget: $8 – $15 USD

Title: Fractional Project Manager (Hardware + Software) — PM-Lite, a couple of hours a week.

We are building a hardware / software product in the automotive industry and need a pm familiar with this process to help us manage resources, timelines and other items.

Scope (what you’ll run)

Build and maintain the project plan (timeline, dependencies, owners).

Set up and manage a living risk register, issues log, and change log (ECR/ECO).

Define stage-gates and acceptance criteria for each phase (e.g., design → layout → build → bring-up).

Collect evidence/artifacts at each gate (e.g., design reviews, test reports, screenshots/videos, release packs).

Coordinate RFQs and follow-ups with vendors (design, manufacturing/PCBA, enclosure, harness, test).

Keep the single source of truth tidy (specs, drawings, BOM, releases).

Drive weekly status (short, action-oriented) and flag decisions early.

Deliverables

Project plan (Gantt or Kanban) with owners, dates, and status.

Risk register with mitigations, owners, and due dates.

Stage-gate checklist (entry/exit criteria) and acceptance template per phase.

Evidence bundle per milestone (review minutes, test logs, images/videos, release ZIP).

Weekly 1-pager: done/next/blockers, decisions needed, budget/schedule health.

Cadence / Time

PM-lite: ~2–4 hours/week (flex).

15-min stand-up each week + a single status note.

As needed: vendor emails, document updates, and milestone reviews.

Experience (must-have)

Shipped hardware + embedded/software products (consumer, industrial, automotive, or similar).

Comfortable reading schematics/PCBA release packs and basic test/QA reports.

Has run DFM/DFT/validation checkpoints and handled vendor coordination.

Clear, concise written updates; action-oriented.

Nice to have

Familiarity with pre-compliance/EMC, environmental testing, or certification flows.

Light familiarity with CAD/PLM, but you won’t be designing—just organizing and gating.

Tools

Your choice (Notion/Confluence/Google Drive) for docs; Trello/Jira/Asana for tasks.

We prefer a shared risk register and stage-gate checklist (Sheets/Notion).

How to respond

Two short examples of products you PM’d (what you owned, key risks you managed).

Your preferred tool stack and timezone/availability.

Hourly rate and any minimum weekly commitment.
