JIRA WBS Template Configuration
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need help structuring a brand-new Project Management template in JIRA so that my entire initiative is mapped out as a clear Work Breakdown Structure. The goal is to blend classic Waterfall checkpoints with the day-to-day flow of Kanban, giving the team both long-range visibility and continuous delivery tracking.
Scope
• Spin up a fresh JIRA project (cloud) and configure the issue hierarchy so Epics, Stories/Tasks, and Sub-tasks roll neatly into a WBS view.
• Build three Waterfall phases—Requirements, Development, and Testing—and make sure each phase can be visualised on its own Kanban board while still tying back to the overall timeline.
• Set up workflows, statuses, and swim-lanes that respect this hybrid approach, keeping transitions lightweight for Kanban but stage-gated for the Waterfall milestones.
• Populate a starter backlog of sample issues so I can see the hierarchy in action and export the structure to a spreadsheet or PDF for stakeholder sign-off.
Acceptance
The project is complete when I can:
1. Expand or collapse the entire structure in JIRA to view progress by phase, epic, or individual task.
2. Drag cards across a Kanban board without breaking the underlying Waterfall schedule.
3. Generate a single report (dashboard or filter) that summarises percent complete for each of the three phases.
If you regularly work with Atlassian Cloud, Advanced Roadmaps, or WBS-Gantt add-ons, let me know; otherwise native JIRA configuration is fine. I need a template structure and the "how to" do it in JIRA.
