Empowering Women of Bhutan
Gender Equity and equality is one of hallmark that Bhutanese practice and respect. Through such asset, women can take up their own rights in any field be it entrepreneurship, education and other career. Depsiite their right being reserved, pandemic has posed many threat and vulnerability to women. As being least developed country, the economic stability was greatly distracted and may pose an impact on compromising the right reserved for women. Horticulture Association of Bhutan is a NGO and Non- Profit Organization, which supports individual farmers, groups, corporatives, Business personnel, youth entrepreneur, women and others. In the women arena, we have bright future plan for them to upscale the living standard of women.
Our aim:
1. Include women in a circle.
Our objectives
1. Women to uptake farming and earn their own living.
2. Up-skilling and re-skilling Women in the field of their expert (eg. Weaving and dying from nettle fiber).
3. Provide market opportunities to their agricultural produce.
4. Provide trainings programme in their field of interest by recruiting expert personnel.
5. Provide pamphlets regarding guidelines and Procedures.
6. Conduct research on feasibility and prospect for probable cultivation of different vegetables and other crops.
7. Inspection on their cultivation via phone call and often field visits.
8. Institution of community based organization to women so that market route becomes easier.
9. Help women to focused on product development rather than selling raw produce.
10. Business personnel women who are deprived of education- will provide lending help in proposal development by our Association.
As country being gifted with six different agro- ecology, there is greater thrill in burgeoning diverse crops. The greater feasibility being assured, gainful employment is certain to women. According to Labour Force Survey 2020, the number of women unemployment rate (6%) is higher as compared to men(4.1%). But it is certain in a near future that no or less women being left behind with the sincere effort we can make on women by resorting to our sincere dedication, accountability, transparency and hard work .
