’m hiring a developer (or small team) to build a modern project management app that helps users manage:
Tasks and projects (like Asana/Trello/ClickUp fundamentals)
Calendar and scheduling (events + due dates + reminders)
Communication tools (chat + comments + @mentions)
Collaboration tools (teams, permissions, file sharing, activity logs)
This needs to be clean, fast, scalable, and production-ready—not a prototype.
Core Features (MVP Requirements)
1) Authentication + Accounts
Email/password login (optional: Google/Apple later)
User profiles (name, avatar, role)
Organization/Workspace model (users belong to workspaces)
2) Projects + Tasks
Create projects
Task lists / boards (Kanban) + optional list view
Task fields:
title, description, status, priority
due date, start date
assignee(s), watchers
tags/labels
attachments
subtasks + checklists
Task actions:
comments thread
@mentions + notifications
activity log (“Brian moved task to Done”)
3) Calendar
Calendar view (month/week/day)
Sync tasks with due dates into calendar
Create events independent of tasks (meetings, etc.)
Reminders/notifications (in-app at minimum; email optional)
4) Communication + Collaboration
Project-based chat OR channel-based chat per project
Task comments (separate from chat)
Notifications center:
mentions, assignments, due date reminders, chat messages
Real-time updates (preferred) for chat + task updates
5) Permissions + Roles
Workspace roles: Owner / Admin / Member (at minimum)
Project permissions:
who can view/edit/manage
Invite system via email link
6) Dashboard
“My Tasks” (due soon, overdue, assigned to me)
Quick create (task/event)
Recent activity
Nice-to-Haves (Phase 2)
File storage integration (S3-like) with folders
Time tracking per task
Dependencies (Task A blocks Task B)

I’m open to your recommendation, but I want a stack that’s maintainable and scalable.
Preferred options:
Frontend: React (Next.js) or equivalent modern framework
Backend: Node.js (Nest/Express) or Python (FastAPI)
DB: Postgres
Real-time: WebSockets (or Firebase-style real-time)
Auth: JWT/session-based
Hosting: Vercel + Render/Fly/AWS (or your suggestion)
If you propose a different stack, include reasons.
