Commercial Tender Quantity Survey Support
Budget: £750 – £1,500 GBP
I’m preparing a new commercial build for tender and need an experienced quantity surveyor to guide the numbers and the paperwork from start to award. Your main tasks are threefold: deliver an accurate cost estimate, compile a comprehensive bill of quantities, and steer basic contract management so the tender package goes out tight, clear, and defensible.
You will be working from the current drawings, specifications, and supplier quotes I’ll share in PDF and DWG. I expect you to interrogate the information, raise RFIs where data is missing, and apply current market rates so our figures stand up to scrutiny. Once the BoQ is final, I’ll rely on you to flag cost-saving alternatives and note any provisional sums that need later adjustment.
For contract management, I need you to prepare the tender schedule, draft the key commercial clauses we must include, and produce a comparison matrix once bids return. Standard forms (e.g. JCT or NEC) are fine—let me know which you prefer and why.
Deliverables
• Detailed cost estimate in Excel (unlocked, with rate build-ups)
• Trade-split bill of quantities compliant with SMM7 or NRM2
• Contract/tender documentation pack including instructions to tenderers, conditions, and pricing schedule
• Bid comparison report with recommendations
Timeframe is flexible; quality and completeness take priority over speed, so we can phase the work if that suits your workload.
If you’re comfortable with these responsibilities and have a track record on commercial projects, I’d like to see a brief note on similar tenders you’ve handled and—if possible—one anonymised sample BoQ.
