Commercial Painting Estimation

I’m looking for a detail-oriented estimator who can quickly turn commercial drawings or site notes into accurate, dependable painting take-offs and cost summaries. The scope covers every major property category I handle—office buildings, retail stores and large industrial facilities—and always includes both interior and exterior surfaces.

On a typical assignment you’ll receive PDF plans or photos, a brief spec sheet (coats, sheen, surface conditions) and any access notes. Your job is to:

• measure and quantify all paintable areas
• break down labour, materials, equipment and overhead
• flag specialty items such as epoxy floors, elastomeric coatings or swing-stage work
• produce an easy-to-read bid sheet or Excel workbook I can forward unchanged to clients

I don’t mind which platform you prefer; Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff or well-structured Excel formulas all work as long as the final numbers are transparent and I can trace them. Speed matters because many of these RFQs land with 48-hour deadlines, but not at the expense of accuracy—mis-counts and forgotten doors cost us jobs.

Acceptance criteria
• Square-footage and item counts tie back to the drawings
• Unit costs and markup fields are editable
• Separate totals for interior vs. exterior and for each building type
• One concise summary page plus detailed tabs
