Product Sourcing & Import Specialist – Japan to India
Description:
I am looking for an experienced Product Sourcing & Import Specialist who can help me identify, negotiate, and arrange imports of high-demand Japanese products for resale in India.
You should be able to work end-to-end—from identifying the right products in Japan, negotiating with suppliers, to coordinating shipping and customs clearance into India.
Responsibilities:
* Research & identify high-demand, profitable products in Japan (e.g., skincare, stationery, kitchenware, anime merchandise).
* Contact suppliers, wholesalers, and manufacturers in Japan to get pricing and MOQs.
* Negotiate terms, payment schedules, and ensure product authenticity/quality.
* Arrange sample shipments before bulk orders.
* Coordinate with freight forwarders for air/sea shipping to India.
* Handle all documentation for Indian customs clearance (HS codes, invoices, packing list).
* Advise on applicable customs duties, GST, and import costs.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in Japan-to-India sourcing & import.
* Understanding of Japanese wholesale markets and supplier networks.
* Strong knowledge of Indian customs clearance procedures.
* Ability to communicate in English (Japanese language skills are a big plus).
* Familiarity with courier and freight forwarding options from Japan.
* Detail-oriented with strong negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Based in Japan or has strong Japan market connections.
* Previous experience with consumer goods categories like beauty, stationery, kitchenware, or anime merchandise.
Project Type:
One-time project to start, with potential for ongoing partnership for continuous sourcing.
