The dry cleaner case
Your company was awarded a project to define and create a software solution for a dry cleaner global chain that operates in the US and South America.
You are the Product Owner responsible for defining what the development team should build and when.
You are concerned with creating a system that supports the following functionalities:
• New client onboarding
• Dirty Laundry intake for existing clients
• Processing payments
• Managing WIP for each store
• Managing notification
• Check out clean laundry
• Managing store supplies
Without addressing specific technical details, please provide the following:
• Devise a product solution that supports the problem (a high-level workflow diagram would do).
• Identify 5 critical modules in the workflow and explains why you think they are crucial and why they should be prioritized first
• The remaining modules will be prioritized in two subsequent releases; please tell me what you would do in releases 2 and 3 and why
• Pick two modules for release 1 and create a list of critical tasks that need to be done per each module
• Now pick one of the critical modules and build the structure of EPICs and Stories that would enable developers. Do not forget to add acceptance criteria per each user story
• The story must include non-functional requirements as well
This problem has infinite solutions, and there is no correct one. What is vital is to expose your thinking process to illustrate the logic that drives your decisions.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This exercise should not take more than 3 hours, and I would like you to provide two deliverables. The first one Is your solution by limiting your work to 1 hour. Then, revisit your first deliverable and expand upon it by investing 2 more hours. Turn in both.
