I am developing a plant-based alternative to the usual synthetic braiding hair and need a cosmetic chemist who can turn raw plantain fibre into soft, realistic strands that braid as easily as popular Kanekalon products—minus the toxins. The formulation must stay completely free of lye and any other harsh or caustic additives, yet still deliver a smooth hand-feel that mimics human hair.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in cosmetic formulation and knowledge of natural fibers. Key goals
• Convert plantain fibre into uniformly fine synthetuc braiding hair replacement, suitable for standard braiding techniques.
• Achieve a supple, tangle-resistant finish through conditioning or coating systems that rely only on safe, cosmetically approved ingredients.
• Ensure the fibre accepts salon-grade dyes so I can offer it in a full range of fashion colours while maintaining colourfastness. Can you used for (Kanekalon, Toyokalon, kinky, Knotless braids, Cornrows, passion twist. etc)
• Supply lab-scale sample hanks (minimum 500 g) and a detailed formulation & processing guide that another chemist could replicate.

You must have access to raw plantain material for R&D. Include sourcing in your plan. Alongside the sample, I will need a concise material safety data sheet listing every ingredient used and confirming compliance with EU & US cosmetic safety standards.
