Jamun Juice Formulation and Market Entry
Budget: $8 – $15 USD
Development and Launch of My Jamun Juice Product
For my final thesis, I worked on developing and launching a jamun juice product, focusing on both product formulation and market introduction. I chose jamun because of its well-known health benefits, especially its antioxidant properties and its traditional use in supporting blood sugar control. I saw a gap in the market for a natural, functional drink made from this fruit, particularly in a convenient, ready-to-consume form.
I started the process with careful selection of raw materials, using fresh and properly ripened jamun to ensure good flavor, color, and nutritional quality. During the development phase, I carried out several trials to finalize the formulation. This included extracting the pulp, adjusting sweetness and acidity levels, and ensuring that the final product had a balanced taste that would be acceptable to a wide range of consumers. I aimed to keep the product as natural as possible, so I avoided artificial additives and focused on maintaining quality through proper processing and hygiene.
I also paid attention to quality control by monitoring basic parameters like pH, taste consistency, and overall cleanliness during preparation. For packaging, I selected food-safe materials that would help maintain freshness while also making the product visually appealing. Labeling was designed to clearly communicate the product’s nutritional value and highlight its natural ingredients.
From a marketing perspective, I positioned my jamun juice as a health-focused beverage. My target audience included health-conscious individuals and people looking for natural alternatives to sugary drinks. I worked on simple branding that reflects both the traditional value of jamun and a modern, clean product image. To promote the product, I used basic digital marketing methods, word-of-mouth, and small-scale local outreach to create awareness.
I introduced the product on a small scale to test customer response. The feedback I received was generally positive, especially regarding the unique taste and the idea of a natural, health-based drink.
Overall, this project allowed me to understand the complete process of developing a food product—from idea to final launch. It showed me that with the right approach, even a less commonly used fruit like jamun can be turned into a marketable and promising product.
