Job Summary:
We are looking for a creative and passionate Clothes Designer to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for fashion trends, excellent design skills, and a strong understanding of garment construction. As a Clothes Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing stylish, functional, and innovative clothing that aligns with our brand vision. You will work closely with the design and production teams to bring your ideas to life while ensuring that designs are practical for manufacturing and meet market demands.
Key Responsibilities:
Clothing Design: Develop original clothing collections, including sketches, technical drawings, and mood boards, for various product categories (e.g., casual wear, formal wear, activewear, etc.).
Trend Forecasting: Research and identify emerging fashion trends, colors, fabrics, and consumer preferences. Use this information to inspire and inform your designs for the upcoming seasons.
Fabric & Material Selection: Collaborate with fabric suppliers and material vendors to select appropriate textiles, trims, and finishes that align with the design vision, functionality, and brand identity.
Technical Design: Create detailed technical specifications and flat sketches to communicate design details such as measurements, stitching, construction methods, and material choices to the production team.
Prototyping & Sample Evaluation: Oversee the creation of design prototypes and samples, working with the production team to refine the designs and make any necessary adjustments based on fit, fabric behavior, and overall look.
Collaboration: Work closely with pattern makers, sample makers, and production teams to ensure designs are executed as envisioned. Collaborate with the marketing and merchandising teams to align designs with brand messaging and market positioning.
Quality Control: Review and assess final samples to ensure the garment meets quality standards in terms of fit, finish, and craftsmanship before mass production.
Brand Consistency: Ensure that all designs align with the company’s brand identity, maintaining consistency in style, target audience, and aesthetic vision.
Qualifications:
Education: A degree in Fashion Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in the fashion industry.
Experience: At least 2+ years of experience in clothes design, ideally in a similar role within fashion or apparel design. Experience with both conceptual design and technical garment construction is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or other fashion design tools).
Strong hand sketching and illustration skills.
Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and textile properties.
Ability to translate ideas into actionable design specifications.
Understanding of the fashion industry, including production timelines, costing, and quality control.
