About the Project
A UK engineering company is seeking a Freelance Inspection Engineer to represent the client during the manufacturing of a Scrubber Package in Ahmedabad, India.
The inspection engineer will act as the client’s site representative to ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, quality plans, and international standards prior to shipment to the United Kingdom.
Scope of Inspection
The inspection will cover:
• Industrial Blowers
• Wet Scrubber Vessel & Internals
• Automation / Control Panel (PLC-based)
• Pumps
• Valves
• Fabricated Skid & Structural Components
• Piping & Instrumentation
• Surface preparation & coating
• FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)
Key Responsibilities
• Review approved drawings, datasheets, and ITPs
• Witness and verify:
o Material identification (MTCs – EN 10204 3.1)
o Dimensional inspections
o Welding quality & WPS compliance
o NDT reports (RT/UT/DPT as applicable)
o Hydrostatic / pressure testing
o Mechanical run tests (blower & pump)
o Control panel FAT & I/O checks
• Verify compliance with:
o PED requirements (if applicable)
o UKCA / CE marking requirements
o Client specifications
• Ensure documentation package completeness
• Issue site inspection reports with photographs
• Identify non-conformances (NCRs) and follow up closure
• Support pre-dispatch inspection
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in inspection of:
o Pressure vessels
o Scrubbers
o Blowers
o Rotating equipment
o Control panels / automation systems
• Experience with international projects (UK / EU clients preferred)
• Knowledge of:
o ASME Section VIII
o PED 2014/68/EU (desirable)
o ISO 9001 quality systems
o NDT processes
• Ability to prepare professional inspection reports in English
Preferred Certifications
• CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent welding inspection qualification
• NDT Level II (UT / RT / DPT)
• Experience in FAT witnessing
• Experience with skid-mounted process packages
Engagement Terms
• Freelance / Daily Rate basis
• Travel within Ahmedabad required
• Inspection attendance as per manufacturing schedule
• Immediate start preferred
