Oil Refinery Process Design Expert Needed

Job ID: 40236215

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

Project Title: Senior Process Design Engineer – 1,500 TPD Modular Re-Refining Facility

Project Overview:
Cedars Capital is developing a high-yield, 1,500 TPD (11,000 BPD) modular re-refinery in the Houston Ship Channel. We are seeking a Lead Process Design Engineer to spearhead the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed process engineering phases. The project focuses on converting Waste Motor Oil (WMO) into high-purity Group II/III Base Oils utilizing vacuum distillation and hydro-finishing technology.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Process Flow Schemes: Develop and finalize comprehensive Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

Mass & Energy Balances: Perform detailed Heat and Material Balance (H&MB) calculations to optimize thermal efficiency.

Equipment Sizing: Execute hydraulic calculations and author technical datasheets for distillation towers, hydro-processing reactors, heat exchangers, and pumps.

Process Simulation: Build and validate steady-state and dynamic models using industry-standard tools like Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or Petro-SIM.

Safety & Compliance: Lead or participate in HAZOP/LOPA studies and ensure all designs adhere to API (520/521, 650) and ASME Section VIII codes.

Cross-Discipline Coordination: Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and I&C engineering teams to ensure seamless module integration.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.

Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred for final design sign-off.

Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years in refinery process design, specifically in downstream oil upgrading or re-refining.

Software Proficiency: Expert-level skills in AutoCAD, Aspen HYSYS, and hydraulic modeling software.

Submission Requirements:
Please provide a portfolio of relevant project work, specifically highlighting previous modular or skid-mounted refinery designs. Include your standard lead time for a complete FEED package and your availability for multidisciplinary design reviews.
