Annealing SG Iron Piston Rings
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
I need a metallurgist who can design and validate an annealing cycle for spheroidal graphite (ductile) iron piston rings. The goal is to boost ductility without sacrificing the dimensional stability the rings require once machined.
You will begin by reviewing my current melt chemistry and ring geometry, then propose furnace parameters—soak temperature, hold time, cooling rate, and atmosphere—that reliably reach the target microstructure. I can supply recent micrographs and hardness readings for reference.
Your proposal should lean on your hands-on experience developing or running heat-treatment programs for ductile iron components; please include a brief note on similar jobs or plant trials you have overseen.
Deliverables:
• Complete process sheet with step-by-step annealing schedule
• Expected mechanical properties and microstructural targets
• Simple verification plan (sampling points, tests, acceptance criteria)
We will start with a small pilot batch; once validated, the procedure will roll into production.
