Design Play-Ready Family Board Games

Job ID: 40171101

Budget: $15 – $25 AUD

I’m ready to commission a full bundle of five print-and-play board games that families can download, print at home, and enjoy in quick 20–30 minute sessions. Each title must be easy to teach, yet engaging enough to invite repeat play.

Scope and creative direction
• Theme: Every game should lean into one of these worlds—Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Historical—so the set feels varied while still cohesive.
• Core mechanic: Roll-and-move is mandatory somewhere in each design. You’re free to layer in complementary systems (light set collection, resource choice, push-your-luck, etc.) as long as the gameplay stays streamlined for ages 8–16.
• Special touches: Every design needs a memorable twist or hook, plus a solo variant whenever it feels natural to the system.

Development expectations
• Create all files required for true print-and-play: boards, cards, tokens, and a concise rulebook no longer than two pages, each with at least one illustrated example turn. Final art can be placeholder icons; clean layout in InDesign, Affinity, or similar is fine.
• Playtest with a minimum of ten distinct groups. Provide a short feedback log and show how each game evolved between iterations. Balance for mixed-age family tables is crucial.

Deliverables
1. Five zipped folders (one per game) containing printable PDFs at 300 dpi.
2. A two-page rulebook per game, PDF and editable source.
3. A brief design & testing report summarising tester demographics, key findings, and the tweaks you made.

Acceptance criteria
• Each game reaches setup-to-finish in 20–30 minutes for four players.
• Rules are clear enough that a fresh group can start playing within five minutes of reading.
• All components fit on standard A4/Letter sheets with a safe margin.
• Solo mode, where offered, functions without needing extra pieces beyond what’s already included.

If you’re comfortable iterating quickly and can demonstrate past tabletop design work, let’s get these family-friendly adventures to the printer.
