Job ID: 31492455

Budget: £750 – £1,500 GBP

Summary: We need someone skilled in PR/Marketing who is based in the UK and understand & has contacts with the relevant media. The job is to help announce/launch our "Walkwyse walks 1000km for BBC Children in Need" in October and if successful enhance our social media channels.

website: walkwyse.com

During the month of October, 10 members of the Walkwyse team will walk 100km (from Oct 1st to November 19th) each to raise money for children in need. They are also inviting any member of the public who can access one of our Walkwyse Pudsey Trails to use the free Walkwyse.com web app to go on one of the trails and donate. Each walker’s distance will be added to the organisation’s 1000km target in an attempt to reach a combined target of 2000km. Our aim is to raise at least £2000 for the charity – £1 for every kilometre walked.

Walkwyse Pudsey trails vary in length from 2.5km to 7km and are followed by using the free Walkwyse web app (walkwyse.com) and a mobile phone’s GPS tracking. The trails are fun as you can only see a 100m of the trail in front of you, which will be being laid by a virtual Pudsey as he walks ahead, if you stop he stops, but beware if you stop too long he will give you some words of encouragement to get going again!

Walkwyse has been developed by EduTechWyse Ltd (formed in January 2021), a social enterprise company, to facilitate raising money for charities whilst taking enjoyable walks. The software also enables charities to create their own fund raising walks and is particularly useful to small charities who can’t afford to organise large walking event. The software was developed by the organisation during the Covid pandemic when walking events were not possible. Some of our walks are packed with interesting facts about the history and nature you find along the walk, each piece of information triggered at relevant GPS points. The software is free to use and its development and marketing is funded by the family owners of EduTechWyse Ltd. Longer term the company will operate on a donation-based revenue model where the organisation gets most of its funds in the form of donations from individuals who take a Walkwyse walk and sponsoring organisations
