Background
Investigations function is currently undergoing a significant uplift designed to enhance the
operational capabilities of the team. The Investigations Operations Manager will play a central role
in successfully driving and delivering many of the key initiatives of the uplift program. To
accomplish this you will be required to demonstrate such qualities as high-level organisational
skills, a proven track record for building internal relationships, project management expertise and
the ability to persuasively communicate the need to change established practices.
THE UPLIFT
Three key initiatives of the uplift program are as follows:
1. Developing the functions proactive capabilities by identifying analytical tools and reports
available within the business that have the potential to identify misconduct red flags at an
early opportunity and direct any persons or matters of interest identified into the
Investigations Team;
2. Designing and implementing investigation SLAs to ensure timeliness and consistency in
relation to case progression; and
3. Implementing an Awareness and Education program to ensure an Investigations presence
at induction days and team meetings across the business to promote the role of the
Investigations function and the need for staff to “speak up” when they encounter possible
misconduct in the workplace.
The Investigation teams are a mixture of both experienced staff who have been following the
existing limited processes for many years and very recent recruits who are receptive to new ideas.
Some of the more experienced staff feel the current ways of working are perfectly fine and are
reluctant to embrace any new initiatives. It will be up to you to convince them of the benefits of
those initiatives.
I have 20 minutes to present the powerpoint to a potentially hostile audience the following:
1. The benefits of the three initiatives to the Star; and
2. Your plan for delivering the initiatives.
When delivering your presentation expect to be subject to very some robust questioning as to the
merits of the initiatives. Further, feel free to use whatever visual aids you feel appropriate as part of
your presentation. This could include a PowerPoint demonstration or handouts. Please ensure
these are provided to the panel prior to the interview.
