Project Title: IPL 2024 Data Analytics Dashboard – Power BI Insights
Objective
To leverage Power BI for creating a visually compelling and data-driven dashboard that provides key insights into the ongoing IPL 2024 season. The aim was to analyze player performances, match outcomes, team trends, and other critical metrics to support real-time decision-making for fantasy league players, broadcasters, and cricket enthusiasts.
Tools & Technologies Used
-Power BI for data modeling and visualization
-Excel/CSV files as the data source (match scores, player stats, toss results, etc.)
-DAX for calculated measures
-Data Cleaning using Power Query
Key Insights & Features
Performance Metrics
*Top Individual Performers: Bar charts showcasing the top 10 "Player of the Match" awardees with Abhishek Sharma, Sunil Narine, and Travis Head leading with 3 awards each.
*Top Run Scorers & Wicket Takers: Separate visuals highlighting consistent top performers like Riyan Parag, Virat Kohli, and Anrich Nortje.
Team Analytics
*Winning Trends: Kolkata emerges as the most successful team with 9 wins, followed by Lucknow and Rajasthan.
*Toss Impact Analysis: Explored the correlation between toss winners and match outcomes. The donut chart reveals ~58% of toss winners also win the match, aiding pre-match predictions.
Score Analysis
*Maximum Scores: Highest 1st batting score (277), highest 2nd batting score (262) – valuable for pitch behavior and team chasing strategy.
*Team Extremes: Hyderabad posted the highest team score (262) while Punjab had the lowest second innings score (36), highlighting performance volatility.
Toss & Match Outcomes
*A combined bar chart displays how frequently toss-winning teams also win the game, segmented by teams like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, etc.
Interactive Experience
*Filter and slicer capabilities added to allow users to explore stats by team, match, or player.
Enhanced color coding and layout for visual clarity and storytelling.
