Senior Backend Engineer Required

Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer responsible for building the core services that power our marketplace:
• AI valuation API integration
• CMA/comparable sales engine
• Buyer–seller matchmaking system
• Chat & real-time communication services
• Scalable user management and property database
• Automated market insights generator
• Integration with external data providers (AU real estate datasets)
This is a highly technical, foundational role with major responsibility for system architecture, API design, and ML integration.

Responsibilities
Backend Architecture
• Architect and build a modern backend using Node.js (NestJS) or Python (FastAPI)
• Design scalable database schemas (PostgreSQL + PostGIS)
• Implement authentication, authorization, and role management
• Build high-availability services with caching and rate limiting
Core Platform Services
• Build CMA (comparable market analysis) endpoints
• Integrate with Australian sold-price datasets (e.g., NSW Valuer General)
• Implement property onboarding & data ingestion pipelines
• Build real-time messaging backend for matches & chat
• Implement buyer–seller swiping and matching logic
AI / Data Pipelines
• Integrate LLM-based features (OpenAI) for:
• valuation explanations
• negotiation coaching
• suburb insights
• Deploy ML valuation models (LightGBM/XGBoost)
• Build model serving endpoints
Quality, Security, and DevOps
• Write comprehensive test coverage
• Implement monitoring & error tracking
• Ensure secure handling of user and property data
• Set up CI/CD workflows
• Deploy scalable services (AWS/GCP/Azure)

Required Skills & Experience
• 4+ years backend engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Node.js (NestJS) or Python (FastAPI)
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and data modelling
• Experience with geospatial tools (PostGIS or similar)
• Experience building REST APIs at production scale
• Experience integrating ML models or data pipelines
• Experience with real-time messaging (WebSockets, Socket.io, MQTT, or Firebase)
• Strong security and performance mindset
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP preferred)
• Experience with caching layers (Redis, Cloudflare, etc.)
