PostgreSQL Performance Review & Fixes

Our live data sits in a PostgreSQL instance and some key queries are beginning to drag. I need you to step in, profile what is happening, and carry out light-touch changes that immediately tighten up performance while outlining any deeper work we should schedule later.
During the engagement you will:
• Capture the worst-offending queries, analyse execution plans, and benchmark current response times.
• Review the existing schema and indexing strategy, then create or adjust indexes, vacuum/analyze settings, configuration parameters, and any other low-risk tweaks that deliver quick wins.
• Produce a concise report that documents every change, the before-and-after metrics, and recommendations for larger refactors I can present to the wider team.
All updates must be backwards-compatible and require no code changes on the application side. If you need temporary elevated privileges for pg_stat_statements or similar extensions, just let me know and I’ll grant them.
Once the slowest queries are at least 20 % faster and I have your written summary, the job is done.
