Magento 2.1 to MedusaJS + Mercur Migration
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD
Developer Needed to Migrate Magento 2.1 to MedusaJS + Mercur Multivendor Marketplace
**Description:**
We’re migrating our multivendor marketplace from Magento 2.1 to a modern, headless stack built with MedusaJS (v2) and possibly MercurJS. This is a re-platforming project where we want to preserve and improve current functionality, while benefiting from a cleaner, faster, and more flexible architecture.
---
**SCOPE OF WORK**
You will help us:
* Set up and customize the MercurJS marketplace starter (built on MedusaJS v2)
* Migrate key data from Magento 2.1:
* Products, Variants, Images, Shops
* Categories & Attributes
* Vendor / Seller accounts
* Customer accounts
* Order history
* Implement multivendor functionality:
* Vendor onboarding
* Order splitting
* PayPal Direct-to-Seller (each vendor has their own PayPal account; buyers pay vendors directly — no intermediary payment processing)
* Light frontend polish using Next.js (optional)
---
**TECH STACK / REQUIREMENTS**
* Strong experience with MedusaJS and possibly MercurJS
* Experience working with Magento 2.1: schema, admin, EAV structure
* TypeScript / Node.js
* PostgreSQL, Redis
* PayPal functioning
* Familiarity with data migration tools/scripts
* Git/GitHub workflows, clean code practices
---
**BONUS POINTS FOR**
* Experience using the Kretes plugin (@techlabi/medusa-marketplace-plugin)
* Familiarity with Magento 2.1 quirks and data model
* Past experience with multivendor marketplaces
* Understanding of headless commerce (decoupling backend, admin, and storefront)
* UX sensibility for vendor/admin flows
---
**WORKING STYLE**
* We’re a small, startup-style team — clarity and reliability are key
* Slack or Freelancer chat for updates, with weekly check-ins
* You’ll own the backend migration and core multivendor logic
* Speed and budget awareness are appreciated
---
**BUDGET & TIMELINE**
* Open to hourly or milestone-based offers
* Goal: deliver in 4–6 weeks
* Long-term potential if collaboration goes well
---
**TO APPLY**
Please include:
* Your experience with Magento, MedusaJS, and/or Mercur
* Any relevant marketplace or migration projects
* Your availability over the next 1–2 months
* Whether you work solo or as a team
