Summary
Description:
We are developing a next-generation orthopedic workers’ compensation SaaS for US clinics. Our stack is Node.js (Express), PostgreSQL, AWS, OpenAI (Whisper), with direct EHR (FHIR/Athenahealth) and insurer API integrations. We need a senior backend developer with solution architect experience to own architecture and core backend workflows.
Responsibilities:
• Design scalable, HIPAA-compliant backend architecture (Node.js/Express, PostgreSQL/AWS)
• Implement RESTful APIs for multi-role workflows (intake, PRs, RFA, billing, audit logs)
• Integrate with external APIs (Athenahealth FHIR, insurer APIs, OpenAI Whisper)
• Lead schema and data model design, optimize for audit, traceability, and security
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, EHR/FHIR engineers, and QA
• Setup CI/CD (GitHub Actions or Jenkins), ensure automated backups, logs, and security
Requirements:
• 6+ years backend development (Node.js/Express), PostgreSQL
• Proven architect on HIPAA-regulated or healthcare SaaS (must)
• Strong AWS experience (EC2, RDS, S3, security best practices)
• Experience integrating with FHIR/HL7 APIs and/or insurer APIs (bonus)
• Security-first mindset: JWT auth, data encryption, audit trails
