Backend Developer (Node.js + Postgres) – Hourly Rental Boat Booking Platform
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
We are hiring a Backend Developer to engineer the core business logic for a luxury water activity booking platform. This role involves building a scalable API structure to support complex booking rules, payments, commission logic, and three distinct user portals (Customer, Vendor, Admin). The backend must be fully prepared to support both the initial website and a future mobile application.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the entire backend system using Node.js + Postgres.
Implement all complex booking logic, including duration-based pricing, cross-night bookings (e.g., 11 PM to 3 AM), refunds, and commission rules.
Integrate the payment system using an Escrow model (platform collects funds before paying the vendor).
Implement payment gateway integration with Tap or Hesabe, using both hosted links and webhooks.
Provide comprehensive API documentation (endpoints, methods, input/output JSON examples) and the full database schema.
Required Skills and Tools:
Expert proficiency in Node.js and Postgres.
Proven experience building scalable, documented APIs (REST/GraphQL).
Experience integrating payment gateways and managing webhook communication.
Collaboration and Handover Expectations:
All critical business logic (pricing, refunds, commissions) must be handled exclusively in the backend.
Provide daily updates (progress + blockers).
Push code to the client’s GitHub repo daily (or at least three times per week).
Attend a mandatory weekly Zoom meeting (recorded, with screen sharing) to demo APIs using Postman or Swagger.
Full Handover: Transfer all code, the database schema (diagram or SQL export), the .env.example file (listing all required environment variables), and a recorded Zoom walkthrough explaining the structure and logic.
Commit to a minimum 45-day support period post-handover for Q&A availability.
To Apply:
Please share links to GitHub repositories demonstrating relevant backend work, particularly on booking, marketplace, or payment-integrated projects.
Quotation Request:
Please include your estimated timeline (in weeks), total fixed cost, and a suggested milestone breakdown (e.g., 20% initial, 30% core features, 30% full delivery, 20% handover/support).
