AWS EC2 PostgreSQL & Pgpool-II Expert

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL & Pgpool-II specialist to design and optimize a high-performance, production-ready database setup on AWS EC2. The role involves configuring Pgpool-II for connection pooling, read/write load balancing, and high availability, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum scalability for mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities:

Deploy and configure PostgreSQL clusters on AWS EC2 with Pgpool-II.

Set up read/write splitting, connection pooling, and replication.

Implement high availability, failover, and replica synchronization.

Secure database access with proper authentication, SSL, and VPC networking.

Tune PostgreSQL and Pgpool-II for performance under heavy workloads.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database or replication issues.

Requirements:

5+ years of PostgreSQL administration experience.

Strong knowledge of Pgpool-II (pooling, replication, load balancing, watchdog).

Proven AWS EC2 deployment experience.

Expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, replication, and HA.

Solid Linux system administration and scripting skills.

Nice-to-Have: Experience with PgBouncer, HAProxy, RDS Proxy, or containerized PostgreSQL deployments.

This is a contract/freelance role, remote-friendly, with opportunities for long-term collaboration for mentoring me on System Designs.
