Backend engineer needed for mail server project.

Job ID: 39743498

Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD

I’m looking for a developer with strong experience in Node.js, TypeScript, and Linux mail servers (Postfix, Dovecot, etc.) to help polish and productionize part of our SaaS.

We already have ~80% of the logic working. I built the base with Claude Code, and while it does work (we’ve tested on OVH VPSes), the app is still “vibe coded.” What we need now is a real developer to take it the final 20%:

- Make it PRODUCTION READY — clean, stable, and bug-free
- Add proper API endpoints so it can be plugged directly into our SaaS as a microservice
- Fully test it (stress tests, edge cases, error handling) so we don’t have to hunt for bugs later
- Polish and improve the current code, not just patch it
What the app currently does (already working at a basic level):
1. User inputs SSH details (IP, username, password/private key) for an Ubuntu 22.04 VPS → system connects and prepares it.
2. User can input additional IPs → IPs are configured and ready for mail allocation.
3. Mail server stack installed → Postfix, Dovecot, SSL/TLS, basic configs.
4. User inputs domains → added to VPS + DNS automatically configured via Cloudflare API (SPF, DKIM, MX, DMARC) or prompt if NS needs registrar update.
5. User specifies inboxes per domain → inboxes created and distributed across IPs (load balanced across additional IPs).
6. Post-setup customization → add/remove domains, inboxes, or IPs anytime without breaking setup.
7. SMTP routing → can send directly from VPS or route via external SMTP (SES, etc.).
8. Health/blacklist checks → ongoing checks on domains & IPs for reputation + server health.

Important:
We’re not looking for someone who thinks this is just a quick job, tweaking a few lines of code. This is a serious production project where you’ll need to:
- Go through all the logic carefully
- Refactor and harden it where needed
- Add proper error handling, logging, retries
- Make sure it’s tested, reliable, and production-grade

We’re paying you to make this SaaS-ready, so when we plug it into our app, it just works.

Quick asks for you:
* Can you share examples of past projects (especially around mail server automation or Node/TypeScript SaaS microservices)?
* What would your quote be to take this “vibe coded” base and make it production-ready?
* Are you open to working with us on a project-by-project basis, with potential for long-term collaboration if this goes well?
