Formatting A Science Poster

Hello,
I would like some help with formatting a poster I have made for a project in Physics (the specific topic is called quantum teleportation.) I have already made a very general outline of the poster (using Microsoft word) depicting which captions&descriptions belong to which image, however, it needs some serious editing as it does not look too presentable (considering the fact that quantum teleportation is spooky, perhaps a spooky theme would look nice with my poster.) When I say "editing", I mean that I would like the background theme, font style, font size, image size, etc. changed to look nicer.
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with editing my poster on a professional software (or at least a better software than Microsoft word since it is not the best platform to create posters)?
