Project Overview
We are a UK-based machinery manufacturer seeking an experienced freelance/contract Controls Engineer for a short-term on-site assignment in Turkey. We have recently supplied industrial control panels to a customer site, and require expert assistance to resolve commissioning issues.

The role involves travelling to the customer site to:
- Tune servo drives for optimal performance
- Modify and optimise drive parameters
- Implement data logging functionality

Duration and Schedule:
- Estimated 2 days on-site work
- Travel from the UK: Approximately 1 day each way (flights typically via Istanbul or direct, depending on exact site location)
- Total commitment: 4-5 days (including travel), ideally to be completed in one trip
- Flexible start date – urgent, aiming for as soon as possible (subject to candidate availability and flights)

Location:
- Customer site in Turkey (exact location to be provided to shortlisted candidates)
- No visa required for UK citizens for short business trips (up to 90 days visa-free entry)

Key Responsibilities:
- On-site diagnosis and tuning of servo drives
- Adjusting drive parameters via manufacturer software/tools
- Adding logging capability (e.g., data recording for parameters, faults, or performance metrics)
- Testing and verification of changes
- Providing a brief handover/report to our team and the customer
- Working safely in an industrial environment and complying with site health & safety requirements

Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience with servo drive systems (tuning, parameter configuration, fault diagnosis) – brands such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Bosch Rexroth, Yaskawa, or similar highly desirable
- Strong background in industrial control panels, PLCs, HMIs, and motion control
- Hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting experience on customer sites
- Proficiency with relevant software/tools for drive configuration and data logging
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers
- Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally at short notice
- Full UK driving licence (desirable, depending on site access)

Nice to Have:
- Experience in machinery/manufacturing sectors
- Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, machinery directive)
- Previous international site work

Rates and Terms:
- Competitive day rate (£450–£650 per day, depending on experience) – negotiable for the right candidate
- All travel expenses covered (flights, accommodation, transfers, meals, etc.)
- Payment on completion/invoice (outside IR35)
- Short-term contract – no ongoing commitment
