PID-Driven PLC Simulation & HMI

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I want to prototype a complete control package before we spend money on physical hardware. The goal is to simulate a variable-speed pump that fills and empties a mixing tank where several ingredients and chemicals are blended. The process has to run under a PID loop so that the pump never overshoots and puts us in a dangerous high-level situation.

I have not settled on a brand yet, so you are free to build in Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi — whatever you feel will migrate cleanly to a real PLC later. What I do know is that I need a touchscreen-style HMI with, at minimum, the following elements:

• Start / Stop buttons and a simple Min / Mid / Max selector for the pump speed
• Live indication that the VSD pump is running
• Animated or numeric tank level that shows both filling and emptying

If you can leave hooks for extra features such as real-time level trend or ingredient dosing controls, that would be a bonus, but the essentials above come first.

Deliverables
1. Fully runnable PLC project file and associated HMI screen(s)
2. Clearly commented ladder / ST / FBD code, including the PID block parameters
3. A short PDF or markdown guide that explains I/O mapping, how to tweak the set-points, and the steps I need to follow when I port this to physical hardware
4. Quick video or screenshot walkthrough proving the simulation behaves as described

The project is finished when I can open the software, press Start, watch the pump ramp up, see the tank respond in real time, and verify that the PID holds the level steady at the set point.
