Load Cell Integration & PLC Conveyor Programming
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
oad Cell Integration and PLC Programming for Material Weighing
Project Overview:
The project involves integrating load cells into a PLC system for material weighing across four conveyors. The objective is to design, implement, and test a solution that accurately measures the material weight on each conveyor. This will be achieved through a combination of load cell installation, PLC programming, HMI configuration, and process documentation.
Key Deliverables:
Load Cell Installation and Integration:
Install load cells on each conveyor for accurate weight measurement.
Integrate load cells with the PLC to ensure proper signal transmission and data acquisition.
Ensure the load cells are calibrated and operational for the specific material being weighed.
PLC Programming:
Develop the PLC code using Siemens TIA Portal (or as per the chosen PLC platform).
Write the Ladder Logic and Structured Text (ST) code for load cell data acquisition and material weight measurement.
Design Functional Block Diagrams (FBD) to structure the PLC code and ensure efficient process control.
Implement control logic for weight measurement, including handling input signals from the load cells, start/stop functionality for conveyors, and material weight data processing.
Develop error detection and alarm handling routines for load cell or PLC communication faults.
Process Flow Diagrams and Documentation:
Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to illustrate the system's operation, from material loading to weight measurement on conveyors.
Prepare Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Control Logic Diagrams (CLD) to document system functionality and PLC code flow.
Document System Integration Flow including interaction between load cells, PLC, and HMI for operational clarity.
HMI Configuration:
Develop the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) interface for monitoring and controlling the system.
Display real-time weight data for each conveyor, including total weight, target weight, and system status (start/stop).
Configure alarms and error messages on the HMI for operator notifications.
Ensure HMI allows for user input to reset or calibrate the system as necessary.
System Testing and Validation:
Perform on-site testing to validate load cell integration, PLC code functionality, and HMI controls.
Ensure the weight measurement system is accurate and stable under varying load conditions.
Test the full operation, including start/stop cycles of conveyors, data logging, and alarm functionality.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues identified during testing.
Training and Support:
Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on system operation, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance procedures.
Offer technical support during the initial startup phase and after project completion for a set period.
